Odd

I was out and about today after work, doing this and then when something dawned on me. Howie smells like crayons again. He did when I first got him. And then it wore off. Then he did again. And it wore off.

I can’t tell you how many times this has occurred. Or why. But it suits him so I think it’s kind of cool the way he does that. I'm sure it's yellow flavored crayons I'm smelling. What? You didn't know crayons have flavors? Sheesh. I thought everyone knew that! Time for you to go out and get a brand new box and sniff them.

Well, I’d like to stay and impart more wisdom but I’ve decided I need ziti so I’m off to the corner. If you're in Reading tonight stop in and join me.

Sigh

The 97th annual Tour de France is going on now and I'm missing it. It started July 3rd and runs through July 25th. There are twenty stages and the race covers a total distance of 3642 kilometers or 2263 miles.

Other years I’d have taken days off to watch a few of the stages live because I love it. This year I didn’t. I have no TV provider. Part of my decision to get rid of TV was because they dropped the channel that carries this race. Sure I could have switched back to the local cable company but I’ve already had too many disagreements with them. And they just announced they’re raising rates yet again.

I considered moving in at the bar on my corner since it is a sports bar with 32 big screen TVs. But then I’d need to eat there every day. And take my computer to work on during slow bits. And my cats would feel neglected so I’d need to take them with me as well. Harry would want to hang out in the kitchen, helping to cook. Quinn would shed all over everyone. Bix and Kya would sprawl wherever it’s most inconvenient and Beau would chew his way around the room.

I don’t think they’d be very happy with me. I’d want all the TVs tuned to the race, not just the one closest to me. Hey, don’t want to miss anything as I wander around to snag the kitties. Even though the tour is on live in the mornings some silly people would still want to watch soccer and tennis and those sorts of things. They don’t understand and I doubt they’d be reasonable when I tried to explain why we needed to switch back to the bike race.

Happy weekend!

Yay!

I am a happy girl. I ordered me new Crocs. Furry kids Crocs for winter. Ha! I discovered this particular style comes in junior sizes and yep, you guessed it. I have junior size feet. That’s how I had blinky shoes back when there were around too. You’re jealous now, aren’t you?

I know. I’m easily entertained. Not necessarily a bad thing as I see it.

Kinda along the same line only different, the Pike now serves the full menu plus specials on wing nights. That means I can have knife and fork food any time I feel like it. When I don’t want to cook it myself, I mean. Yes, I can cook. I cook quite well actually. It’s just lately I haven’t felt like bothering. Why should I when I can go for a short stroll and have all sorts of yummy choices for a very reasonable amount and have it made for me with no dishes to do when I’m finished? Ooh. Perhaps I shouldn’t be telling you this. You all might invade and then there won’t be room for me. Hmm, if you do come, save me a spot, would ya please? They have ultra nummy pumpkin spice cake in honor of the upcoming holidays right now. Un huh. You’re on the way, I can tell.

Kya’s decided that the toy mice need to learn to swim. She keeps dropping them in the water bowl and then sitting there, waiting for them to do something besides sink. Silly cat. She’s as easily entertained as I am but at least I’m not sitting there watching with her. I wait until I hear several splashes and then I go rescue them. Do you think perhaps I’m her entertainment, not the mice?

It’s almost cookie baking season. Don’t get any ideas here. I’m not the one doing the baking although I am capable of that as well. I have absolutely no ingredients and I’ve discovered it’s much easier to wander over to Riley’s house and keep her kidlettes company while they bake. It’s a lot of fun and they’re very sweet, sending home a tin of cookies with me. Eva May’s family bakes too and I’m way overdue for a visit there. Yep, I admit it. I’m shameless when it comes to cookies. Good thing my friends are so indulgent.

As Expected

Some things never change.

I met up with some of the ladies I used to work with for dinner tonight. Those I used to enjoy, I still do. Those I didn't care much for, I still don't. No big surprise there.

One thing that was confirmed by chatting with them. I certainly don't miss working in purgatory. Nope, the current day job definitely suits me more. No big surprise with that one either.

You'll be very proud of me. I behaved myself. This time. Don't know if there'll be a next time because it was so hard to not say some of the things I was thinking. Or maybe I'll organize the next gathering so I can invite only those I'm truly interested in seeing again. Yes, that sounds like a better plan to me.

While I was there, Neeley called. Too bad I couldn't talk to her because I haven't been sticking to my vicarious exercise program very well lately. I really need to do better at that. Besides, her I do miss.
