No Wonder

Today I once again understand why the post office is in such turmoil.

I had a very pleasant woman call to inquire whether a package was delivered as the tracking indicated.  She was checking because she was the sender and the box has been lost for over a week.  No, it was not.  At the time she called I had yet to see any postal personnel in my office.

Four hours later a very hateful, miserable woman from the post office called. She insisted that the package had been delivered this morning at a time when I know with absolute certainty that I was at my desk.  When I attempted to explain that she was rude and yelled at me.  She refused to listen, getting louder and louder as she told me in no uncertain terms that I received the package.

Twenty minutes later the mailman came.  He had the package in question earlier but was told to pull it from the truck, that someone called and said they’d be picking it up.  Hmm.  No.  That’s as untrue as saying the package was already delivered.  There had been no orange slip at any time saying someone there had a package so why would anyone think they needed to go pick something up?

Funny thing is when I sorted the mail the package was with it.  It had not been pulled and was not at the facility waiting for anyone to claim it.  Yeah.

The woman that sent it was pleased to know it arrived safely.  And the postal woman who called and was abusive?  All I can say is she’s lucky I don’t have her name because I would be reporting her.

Hope your day was better.

How Rude!

Yesterday after work I went home, fed the cats and changed into my comfies.  I cooked, ate and packed my lunch for today.  I did the dishes and had just sat down on the sofa to relax when my doorbell rang.  Followed by knocking.  Followed by ringing.

I knew it wasn’t anyone I really wanted to see because my friends all know to call first since I tend to ignore tapping on my door.  Last weekend one of my neighbors asked me if I would help his daughter with something.  I thought it might be her as I neglected to mention she should call first so I answered it.

Wrong move!  It was one of those highly annoying switch your energy provider people.  Do you have them skulking your neighborhood?  This woman was a bit burly, fake hard hat with the local utilities name on it plunked on her head and a matching clipboard in her hand.  As I see it that’s a misrepresentation since in this area the gas and electric companies have nothing to do with one another and also because there was no purpose to her wearing it other than to look silly.  Perhaps she had an ID for who she did work for tucked behind the clipboard but I didn’t see it.  I wish I had because I would have reported her.

Without me saying a word she reached for my screen door handle.  She managed to open the door a few inches before I snagged my side and prevented her from yanking it all the way open.  I said, very politely, no thank you.  She ignored me and tugged on the door.  I repeated my no thank you, slightly louder.  She gave it another hard tug to which I said I wasn’t interested and told her to go away.  She refused and kept pulling, clearly intending to push her way into my home.  I let go of the door, stepped back and slammed the interior door in her face.  I admit it.  I had a flash of hope that my releasing the door as I did would cause her to topple down the steps backwards but no such luck.  She stood outside and yelled at me for a good two minutes.

Very obviously the company that employs her failed to give her even five minutes of customer service training.  That in itself makes them a firm I would never want to deal with.  If the sales people are that rude, imagine what it would be like if I ever needed to report a problem.  No, thank you!

Angry!

I was happily working away today, doing what I do, when the phone rang.  It was an Indian-sounding man asking for a former employee.  I started with my standard, “I’m sorry. You have the wrong number.” that I always spout.  Only today it did no good.  He called back.

After the eighth time of repeating myself, I grew tired of being called a liar and transferred him to an empty office.  That usually makes annoying people go away.  Not this guy.  He had an auto-dialer that tied up all the lines for half an hour.

Several other people spoke with him, confirming that the individual he wanted was no longer employed but he wouldn’t stop.  He was rude and harassing to all of us.  Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

And, since it’s a business, I couldn’t really just pull the plug on the phone.  In the midst of all this the odd legitimate call did manage to get through, though I have no idea how.

I tried the call trace code because I would very happily turn him in but it seems to be no longer functional.  We all tried asking for a supervisor.  We tried giving him the number to the employment verification service the company utilizes but nothing got through to him.  He was on a roll, being rude and hateful.  We even tried saying we were the individual he wanted but by then that only made him nastier.

He finally quit calling here. I suspect he moved on to attacking someone else for the moment but I’m sure he’ll be back.  I really hope I’m not at my desk when he starts up again.  He seriously disrupted my Zen.

I need chocolate.

I am ANGRY!!!

After picking up Howie today I went off to Best Buy only because I was almost there.  I’ve decided to upgrade my internet and switch providers.  Several friends have good things to say about Clear, the price is reasonable so that’s what I went for.

I got there and a very nice man directed me to the Clear salesman.  He asked if all my devices were wifi compatible and then recommended a hub unit since my desktop is not.  It has Ethernet capability as well as wireless.  Sounded good so far since the places I take my laptop generally have wifi so I really don’t need to be my own hotspot.

Mr. Clear logged into the system to get me started and up pops a flag saying hubs don’t work with my address.  Hmm, okay.  The map however shows it does.  He switches to another screen which seemed to indicate it would work.  Fine.  I asked if I could trade gizmos if it didn’t work.  Yep, no problem.  While I was off paying I saw a Best Buy individual chatting with Mr. Clear and thought nothing of it.

Got home and guess what?  Hubs do NOT work at my house.  Back I went to Best Buy.  Angry!  Customer service woman was very pleasant and sent me to mobile department.  Curious but okay.  I ended up with an extremely nice, helpful woman by the name of Cora.  Off we go to the computer department where Mr. Clear has gone for the day.  Mr. Best Buy from earlier was still there.  He told me he tried to stop Mr. Clear from selling the hub to me because he knew it wasn’t going to work.  I asked why he didn’t tell me directly and the look said everything that needed to be said.  Mr. Clear would not have been easy to work with in the future had he done that.  Fine.  I get it.  However I think keeping customers happy would be a better policy.

Mobile Cora called Clear and got everything all switched around even though it turned out she generally has absolutely nothing to do with Clear sales or computer gizmos.  If I didn’t already have the wonderful Miss Amber as my mobile guru I’d definitely go to Cora.

After she had me all set to go I went off the find a store manager and lodged a complaint about Mr. Clear.  He was very nice and apologetic and said everything he should have said.  So.  If you happen to be considering switching to Clear and would buy the gizmo at the Best Buy in Wyomissing, PA seek out a Best Buy salesman to assist instead of Mr. Clear, log in bboy508.  Yeah, I pay attention to such things.
