Good Morning to You Too

I was in the office first this morning.  Before it was fully light outside.  I walked in, turned on the lights and the copier, stashed my lunch and wet about working.  An average beginning to my day.

I was sitting at my computer, checking on something when I caught movement.  In the form of something black crossing my field of vision.  I turned to watch it and saw it cross the room, turn the corner and head up the steps.

It was a bat.

Apparently I disturbed it when I turned the lights on.  It went upstairs where it was still semi-dark.  I finished up what I was working on, called someone to notify him of the bat’s presence, left a note on the interior door for the coworker due in next who is terrified of such things and went on my way.  I had something that needed immediate attention that took priority over the bat.

As expected, the coworker called to ensure I was serious.  She seemed very happy with me for not letting her encounter the bat.  The gentleman I called was still tied up when she approached him for assistance.  So another coworker came and rescued the poor creature.  It was just a tiny thing, much more scared of her than she was of it.

Upon last report the bat was seen fluttering away across the rooftops, hopefully to find itself a new home, preferably not inside our offices.

I Am So Spoiled!

I arrived home to find a box, at least ten pounds, between my doors.  It was labelled "Fragile - Baked Goods".  Hmm...

Inside it went.  I was very restrained.  I fed the kitties before allowing myself to open it.

Three layers of total numminess from a very dear, sweet friend who spent all day Sunday baking to send me Christmas treats.  Naturally I had to sample everything as I packed it into containers.

Everything was incredible but the brownies exceptionally so.  Walnut with caramel, Nutella and Grand Marnier.

It doesn't get much better than this.  I love my friends!

Lounging

I took the last few days off.

Thursday, because it was my birthday. Ha! Didn’t know that, did you? Don’t worry. I didn’t tell anyone else either. It was necessary to be off because it’s just so wrong to work on your birthday, even if no one knows about it.

Friday I needed to be off because I went to hang out with some out of town friends. One knew I was coming, one I surprised. Big fun!

I took off Monday simply because I wanted to. Oh I had some errands that needed doing but I could have accomplished them Saturday had I felt like it. I didn’t so I skipped them, since I had Monday to take care of everything.

I was back to work today and wow, was it hard! It’s so easy to get out of work-mode and so difficult to get back into it. But the cats and I have a fondness for eating so I suppose I’ll have to manage.

Sigh.

It's The Little Things

This morning a one of my coworkers showed up with a surprise for me. Something really, really cool. Guess what it was.

Hahaha!

Okay, I’ll tell you. It was one of those handheld fans. I know. You’re sitting there thinking “Huh? What’s so cool about that? The heat has finally fried her mind.” Right? Come on, you can admit it. I’m beginning to thinks that too.

So. Ya wanna know why it’s so nifty? I should be mean and let you wonder. Yeah, except for my new gizmo it’s been that kind of day. Anyway, this thingy is the variety that you can program messages on that are displayed as the fan spins. Up to four different ones. They turn, blink, disappear and reappear.

Mmm hmm. Jealous now, aren’t you? Thought so.

I was very well behaved with what I programmed while I was at work. Now that I’m home…
