I had the need to wander downtown for work purposes this
afternoon. I decided to be nice on the
way back and stopped in at a local café that I passed in order to obtain
cookies for me and my coworkers. Yes, it
was a cookie-needing kind of day. It was
after 2:00 when I got there, well past lunchtime. I went in for four cookies. And left with double that and a tub of cream
of asparagus soup. All for the price of
the original four cookies. Apparently I was radiating our need for
cookies. I’m not sure how the soup came
about but it was nummy so I’m not going to question it.
Before I left the office on my errand a coworker instructed
me to bring back the million dollars she was sure someone would offer me along
the way. She went on to suggest I stop
in some of the shops I passed and request it, in case they weren’t sure who it
give it to. Well, I only stopped at the café. That doesn’t mean, however, that I didn’t
speak with everyone who crossed my path.
I did, though not by initiating the exchanges myself. I seem to be a magnet for hmm, unusual
people? Yes, that’s a good term for
them. Unusual. Had I not needed to get right back to work,
since it was the middle of the afternoon, I suspect I would have been able to
collect quite a few new stories today.
The white packet under Harry is the book I meant to be working on tonight. Guess that's out. He's too comfy to disturb. Perhaps I will start something new. Too bad I didn't have more time earlier. Based on the few words I shared with those I passed I'm sure it would have been as unusual as the people were.
Happy weekend all!
Please go add to yesterday’s contributions to Breathing Room. We’re just shy of half way!
